Govt sends five secretaries, one top official into forced retirement

The government has sent five secretaries and one Grade-1 officer into compulsory retirement under Section 45 of the Public Service Act, which allows retirement without prior notice or explanation after 25 years of service.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued separate gazette notifications on Thursday night confirming the move. The secretary-level officials sent into retirement include Kazi Enamul Hasan, who was serving as Director General of the Bangladesh Employees Welfare Board; Sukesh Kumar Sarkar, Director General of the National Academy for Planning and Development; Muhammad Ibrahim, Chairman of the Land Appeal Board; Dr Md Shahid Ullah, Rector of the National Academy for Development Administration; and Mohammad Salah Uddin, who was attached as an Officer on Special Duty.

Dr Lipika Bhadra, Chairman of the Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industries Corporation, was the Grade-1 officer also sent into forced retirement.

The gazette stated that all officials will receive retirement benefits as per existing rules and regulations.
