Trump’s two-week deadline on Iran may be strategic delay, says analyst

Donald Trump’s recent two-week deadline on Iran could be a tactical move rather than a genuine pause for diplomacy, Al Jazeera’s senior political analyst Marwan Bishara has suggested.

“He could actually use that as a pretext in order to camouflage whatever his intentions are and attack tomorrow,” Bishara remarked, hinting at the unpredictability of Trump’s foreign policy decisions.
This comes shortly after Trump reaffirmed his commitment to diplomacy with Iran—just hours before Israeli airstrikes began last week.

Bishara also noted that Trump might be temporarily holding back to allow upcoming talks between Iranian and European officials to unfold. “If one has to over-interpret, I would say the following: He’s giving the Europeans some time so that everyone could save face,” he said.

The comments point to a broader uncertainty surrounding US intentions in the region, as diplomatic tensions with Iran remain high.
