A three-day long national fruit fair kicked off at Bhaluka upazila in Mymensingh district on Thursday.
The fair was organised by the upazila agriculture office at Upazila Parishad premises with an unifying theme of the fair, like "eat more local fruits, let's plant fruit trees".
The fair was formally inaugurated by Bhaluka Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Hasan Abdullah Al Mahmud at 11 AM.
Upazila agriculture officer Nusrat Zaman, livestock officer Dr Md Ariful Islam, senior upazila fisheries officer Md Saidur Rahman, upazila election officer Shamsun Nahar Bhuiyan, several employees and 60 farmers from Bhaluka municipality and various unions were also present, among others.
Visitors can purchase chemical-free fruits directly from farmers and learn about new fruit cultivation techniques showcasing approximately 30 varieties of fruits at the fair's stalls.
