A delegation, comprising leaders of SAARC Journalist Forum (SJF) and National Forum for Newar Journalists (NFNJ), organisers of the conference, handed over declaration copy during a courtesy visit to the ambassador at the Bangladesh Embassy in Kathmandu.
SJF Central President Raju Lama and Secretary General Md Abdur Rahman, NFNJ President Nripendra Lal Shrestha, SJF Bangladesh chapter leader Rafiqul Islam Azad, and NFNJ leader Prajit Shakya were among the delegation.

The declaration highlighted key resolutions and commitments aimed at promoting linguistic diversity, cross-border media cooperation, and the protection of journalists working in mother tongues across the South Asian region.

Over 100 journalists, including more than 50 from SAARC countries, took part in the conference, which was held on June 13-14 to mark 101 years of mother tongue journalism.

Nepal’s Parliament Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire inaugurated the conference as chief guest at the National Nature Conservation Trust in Lalitpur, while Deputy Prime Minister Prakash Man Singh attended the closing ceremony at Thimi Banquet in Bhaktapur.
