CHATTOGRAM, June 18: The highest number of nomination seekers of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in Chattogram district for the ensuing parliamentary elections are now in the row for 16 constituencies.
The nomination aspirants are more than 50 for a total of 16 constituencies. According to party insiders, over 50 leaders of the party are now in the field through holding the rallies, mass contact and meetings seeking the people support in the ensuing national election of the parliament.
They have been visiting the areas of their respective constituencies regularly.
The party insiders preferring anonymity told the Daily Observer three aspirants are in (Chattogram-1) Mirsarai, Nurul Amin chairman who was nominated in the previous polls, Joint Convenor of North District BNP Nurul Amin, and Shahidul Islam Chowdhury, Upazila Unit Convenor. In (Chattogram-2), Fatikchari, Col. (RTD) Ajimullah Bahar Convenor of Upazila BNP, Sarwar Alamgir Joint Convenor of North District BNP, Justice Faisal Mahmud Faizi, and Kader Gani Chowdhury, Central Information and Research Secretary are seeking nominations.
In Ctg-3 (Sandwip) Engineer Belayet Hussain, Joint Convenor of North District Unit, Former MP Mustafa Kamal Pasha, Milton Bhuiyan, Central Executive Member, Mustafa Kamal Babul and Tarikul Islamare nomination aspirants.
In Ctg-4 (Sitakunda), Aslam Chowdhury, former Joint Secretary General of BNP is a single nomination seeker, said the party sources.
In Ctg-5 (Hathazari) seat, SM Fazlul Huq, former President of FBCCI, Mir Helal, Assistant Organising Secretary of the central committee, Barrister Shakila Farzana, daughter of former MP Syed Wahidul Alam are in the nomination seekers row.
In Ctg-6, (Raozan),Gulam Akbar Khondker, Adviser of the BNP Chairperson, Giasuddin Quader Chowdhury, Vice Chairman of BNP, Upazila BNP leader Samir Quader Chowdhury have been seeking nominations.
In Ctg-7, (Rangunia), Upazila BNP convenor Kutubuddin Bahar Hummam Quader Chowdhury, BNP central Committee member, and Abu Ahmed Hasnat. In Ctg-8 (Chandgaon-Boalkhali)., Ershadullah convenor of City BNP, and Abu Sufian former Convenor of South district BNP unit. In Ctg-9, (Kotwali-Bakalia), former minister Mir Muhammad Nasiruddin, Shamsul Islam, Central Committee member, and Abul Hashem Bakkar. In Ctg-10, (Double mooring-Pahartali), Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Standing Committee member, and Sayeed Al Noma, son of late Abdullah Al noman.
In Ctg-11, (Patenga-Halishahar), the home constituency of Standing committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury. His son Israfil Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury may contest from this seat. In Ctg-12, (Patiya), former MP Shahjahan Jewel, Enamul Huq Enam, former joint convenor of district unit, and Syed Sadat Ahmed, Central committee member.
In Ctg-13, (Anowara), former MP Sarwar Jamal Nizam, Mustafizur Rahman, Lion Helaluddin, and Ali Abbas.
In Ctg-14 (Chandanaish) Prof Mohsin Zillur Karim, central family plannimg secretary, Advocate Mizanul Huq, former VP of district BNP unit, M A Hashem Raju, and Nurul Anwar.
In Ctg-15 (Satkania-Lohagara), Sheikh Mohiuddin former Secretary of South district BNP unit, Mujibur Rahman Chairman, Nazmul Mustafa Amin, Jamal Hussain.
In Ctg-16 (Banshkhali), two sons of former minister late Jafarul Islam Chowdhury, Jahirul Islam Chowdhury Alamgir and Miskatul Islam Chowdhury, Kamrul Islam Hussaini and Liakat Ali Chairman may contest from this seat.
