The election for the Board of Directors of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), the country's top trade body, will be held on September 7.
The schedule was officially announced on Wednesday by the FBCCI Election Board through a press release issued by the organisation's Secretary General Md. Alamgir.
The election will determine the President, Senior Vice-President, two Vice-Presidents, and Directors for the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 terms.
This year's election will be held under the Trade Organization Act 2022 and the newly implemented Trade Organization Rules 2025, which have significantly restructured the board. Under the new rules, the size of the Board has been reduced from 80 to 46 members.
As per the schedule, member chambers and associations must submit their nominated representatives for the General Assembly by 5:00 PM on July 2. The preliminary voter list will be published on July 18, followed by the final voter list on July 26.
The preliminary list of candidates for the top positions will be released on August 8. After completing the verification and scrutiny process, the final list of candidates will be published on August 14.
Candidates wishing to withdraw their nominations must inform the Election Board by 2:00 PM on August 16, after which the final list of contestants will be confirmed and published on the same day.
