UNHRC team meets Jamaat leaders

A three-member delegation of global human rights experts held a meeting with senior leaders of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami at the party's central office on Monday. The closed-door session focused on Jamaat's internal governance, political posture and its stated commitment to upholding human rights amidst the country's volatile political landscape.

The high-profile delegation included Nicolo Figa Talamanca, Secretary General of the international human rights organization No Peace Without Justice, international legal expert in accountability and transitional justice Pascal Tarlan and renowned expert in international human rights law and former South Asia Director at Amnesty International Abbas Faiz, while Nayeb-e-Amir and former Member of Parliament Syed Abdullah Md Taher, Central Executive Council member and Secretary of the Publicity and Media Department Advocate Matiur Rahman Akand and the party's spokesperson in Europe Barrister Abu Bakar Molla represented Jamaat-e-Islami.

The exchange reportedly revolved around Jamaat's organizational framework, operational strategies and its engagement at the grassroots level.
