Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Mohammad Abdul Momen said that Tulip Siddiq, a Member of Parliament (MP) for the UK's ruling Labour Party and former minister, 'looks like Bangladeshi' when looking at her documents, even though she identifies herself as British.

In this context, he said, "Three cases are ongoing against Tulip and another is under investigation. No matter how much she says she is British, when we look at our documents, she seems to be Bangladeshi. Now, in view of the situation, she sometimes says British and sometimes Bangladeshi for her own convenience; you (to journalists) will consider whether it is appropriate to say this or not."

In response to questions from journalists at a briefing on Sunday after his visit to the UK, the ACC chairman made the following comments about Tulip and raise question that "If Tulip Siddiq is innocent, then why did she leave the post of City Minister or the ministry?"

"If Tulip claims to be innocent, why did her lawyer write a letter to the ACC? Why did she resign from the ministry?" he added.

At that time, he considered Tulip a citizen of Bangladesh and said that action would be taken against her.

The ACC Chairman said, "Their activities regarding Tulip are continuing. The summonses are being sent to the correct address. There are other allegations including irregularities in the distribution of Rajuk plots and Gulshan plots. When I checked her income tax return, I saw that her gold had suddenly jumped from 10 bhori to 30 bhori. There has been no change in the price."

"According to the provisions of Bangladeshi law, Tulip will have to face the court. We have informed his lawyer about this," he added.
