Bangladesh's ready-made garment exports to the US market have seen a significant surge, with a 29.34 per cent increase in the first four months (January-April) of this year. This grow is the highest among its major competitors.
Bangladesh fetched $2.98 billion from apparel export to the US market during January-April period of this year compared to $2.30 billion in the same period last year.
Industry insiders stated that Bangladesh has focused on diversifying products and markets. As a result, such successes are coming; export income is gradually increasing from the sector.
Former president of the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA), Md Fazlul Haque, believes that this picture of ready-made garment exports is a symbol of the strength of the country's industrial sector. He said, "We are consistently doing well in Europe, the United States, and Canada. We hope to do well in the future as well."
Meanwhile, after a long time, Vietnam has overtaken China to take the top spot in ready-made garment exports to the US market.
