Russian Ambassador Alexander Khozin on Sunday said that Dhaka-Moscow relations are on the rise and there are prospects to make the bilateral relations even more solid. He stressed that the stronger ties between the two countries would benefit the region.
Addressing a reception hosted by him in celebration of the Russian Day he recalled the friendship between Russia and Bangladesh during more than 50 years is based on principles of equality and mutual respect. He said that Bangladesh is now Russia's second largest trade partner in South Asia.
Adviser of the interim government Fouzul Kabir Khan was the Chief Guest at the reception attended by senior government officials, diplomats, journalists, cultural figure, business community members and academics.
The Russian Ambassador said that 80 years back Soviet Union founded its atomic industry. He pointed out that the engineers and specialists from Russia and Bangladesh are working to implement the Nuclear Power Plant in Rooppur in Bangladesh. He hoped that the first unit of the plant will be launched by the end of this year.
Addressing as Chief Guest Adviser Fouzul Kabir Khan said that Bangladesh-Russia relations are now on solid foundations. He hoped that the bilateral cooperation between the two countries will further grow in energy and agricultural sectors.
The guest enjoyed an exhibition on "The images of Russian history".
