Country's both the bourses-- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE)-- witnessed an upward trend on Monday, like earlier as investors continued their buying spree on large-cap issues amid optimism.
DSEX, the broad index of DSE gained 59.7 points to settle at 4,784 points as against 4,724 points in the previous trading session. Shariah-compliant DSES index went up 1.62 percent to end at 1,045.39, while the DS30, which tracks blue-chip stocks, increased by 0.90 percent to 1,787.53.
Market turnover crossed Taka 4 billion after nearly 1.5 months, rising by 58.7 percent from that of the previous session.
On the sectoral front, Food (19.1 percent) issues exerted the highest turnover, followed by Bank (12.9 percent) and Pharma (11.6 percent) sectors.
Out of the 397 issues traded, 312 advanced, 36 declined and 49 remained unchanged.
