IU student killed in Kushtia road mishap

A student of Islamic University (IU) was killed in a road accident at Bittipara area under Sadar upazila in Kushtia on Monday morning.

The deceased was identified as Rashedul Islam, a master’s student of Arabic Language and Literature department of the university.

According to local, Rashedul was returning to campus from his home while sitting on the engine cover of a Shyamoli Paribahan bus. Around 9:00 AM, the bus collided head-on with a speeding truck, causing Rashedul to fall from the vehicle and sustain critical injuries.

He was immediately taken to Kushtia General Hospital where on-duty doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival.

IU Proctor Professor M Shahinuzzaman said that they were looking into the matter.

The IU authorities, teachers and students of the Arabic Language and Literature department, expressed deep shock at the death of Rashedul and conveyed heartfelt condolences to his family.
