A Khulna court on Sunday convicted two people and sentenced them to life imprisonment for possessing drugs.
The convicts are—Nurul Islam Sumon, son of Jahangir Hossain and Jewel Mahmud Sagar, son of Ashraful Islam.
Judge of the Khulna Additional Metropolitan and Session Judge Court-1, Shumi Ahmed handed down the punishment.
According to the prosecution, a team of Khalishpur Police Station intercepted a motorcycle after setting up a check-post in front of Goalkhali graveyard and arrested two young men along with 40 bottles of phensedyl on July 30, 2015.
The then sub-inspector of Khalishpur Police Station, Motiur Rahman, filed a case against them.
On August 24, 2015, police submitted chargesheet against them.
