A man was murdered by his rivals over a previous enmity in Gafargaon upazila in Mymensingh district.
The incident took place in Daoa Dair Dakhil Madrasah field of the upazila at around 9 PM.
The deceased was identified as Md Naim Mia, 23, son of Mofiz Uddin, a resident of Daoa Dair Village in the upazila. Naim was a student of Bhawal Badre Alam Government College.
It was known that Naim went to Daoa Dair Dakhil Madrasah field and was using his mobile at night. At that time, his rivals Topu Mia, Shamsul, Zalil and a few others attacked Naim over a previous enmity and hacked him indiscriminately, leaving him critically injured.
Family then rescued the injured with the help of police and rushed him to Gafargaon Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctors referred him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) following the deterioration of his condition.
Later on, Naim was declared dead at the DMCH.
Pagla Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Ferdaus Ahmed confirmed the incident.
