A college student died after drowning in a pond at Sadullapur upazila in Gaibandha district on Sunday.
The deceased,Nurunnabi Islam, 22, son of Morshedul Islam, a resident of Khamar Bagchi village in the upazila, was a student of Sadullapur Government College.
According to locals, Nurunnabi had been suffering from epilepsy for a few years. He went to take bath in a pond next to their house and sat on a culvert there on Sunday afternoon.
Nurunnabi, at one point, fell into the pond after suffering from epilepsy.
Later, locals rescued him and took to Sadullapur Upazila Health Complex where on-duty doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
Kamarpara Union Parishad (UP) reserved woman member Sheuli Akter confirmed the matter.
