Nine new COVID-19 cases have been reported in Chattogram in the past 24 hours, though no deaths have been reported, according to the Chattogram Civil Surgeon’s Office.

The Civil Surgeon’s Office confirmed the matter in a statement issued on Sunday.

With these new infections, a total of 18 COVID-19 cases have been reported in the district over the last seven days.

Dr. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Chattogram District Civil Surgeon, said the new infections were identified from 150 samples tested across four laboratories in the city. Of the nine new patients, eight are residents of various city areas, while one hails from a nearby upazila.

Latest data also shows that among the 18 total cases reported this week, nine are male and nine female. Fifteen of the infected individuals reside in the city, while three are from upazila regions.

Health authorities have urged residents to remain cautious and adhere to safety protocols as the virus continues to circulate in the community, albeit at a low rate.
