Woman killed in Kurigram road mishap

A woman was killed after being hit by a motorcycle at Bhurungamari upazila in Kurigram district on Sunday morning.

The deceased was identified as Sahara Banu, 45, wife of Abul Kashem of Banurkuti village under Bongosonahat union in the upazila.

According to locals, Sahara was returning from tailor's shop in the morning. An speedy motorcycle hit her when she was near Sonahat Central Eidgah field, leaving her seriously injured on the spot.
Locals later rescued her and took to Bhurungamari Upazila Health Complex for treatment where on-duty doctors referred her to Rangpur Medical College Hospital as her health condition deteriorated.

Sahara, however, succumbed to her injuries on the way to the hospital.

Confirming the matter, Bhurungamari Police Station officer-in-charge Al Helal Mahmud and said that the motorcyclist was now in police custody.
