Law enforcers ready when EC announces polls schedule

Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury on Sunday said that law enforcement agencies are prepared for the time when the Election Commission (EC) announces the upcoming national election schedule.

He made the statement while talking to reporters at the Secretariat in post-Eid view exchange meeting.

When asked about preparations by law enforcers in light of the potential election timeline, Adviser Jahangir said, "The law enforcement agencies are prepared as soon as the EC announces the date of the elections."
"Government wants humanitarian police. Currently, police are humanitarian. They are more active than before."

Jahangir Alam said discussions had been held with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka on the push-in issue.
