A 26-year-old young man was shot to death allegedly by a group of unidentified armed men in Rangamati's Kaptai upazila on Sunday morning.
The shooting incident took place around 11:40 AM at Phultoli village of Raikhali Union in the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Hakim, son of late Bahar Ali, a resident of Ghoniakhola area in the same upazila.
According to locals, a group of 9–10 armed men allegedly, linked to the JSS (Main Faction), entered the village and fired multiple rounds at Hakim, leaving him dead on the spot.
The incident has triggered panic in the locality, with a heavy sense of tension prevailing.
Confirming the matter, Chandraghona Police Station investigation officer Imrul Hasan said that police visited the scene upon receiving the report but could not locate the body or gather information from locals.
"We're investigating, but residents are not cooperating," he added.
