The Bangladesh Khilafat Majlis welcomed the recent political dialogue between BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and Interim Government Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus as a 'timely and important step' but simultaneously expressed serious reservations about the latter's impartiality in a strongly worded joint statement issued on Saturday.

In the statement, Ameer Maulana Muhammad Mamunul Haque, Senior Nayeb Ameer Maulana Yusuf Ashraf and Secretary General Maulana Jalaluddin Ahmed reaffirmed their party's commitment to constructive political dialogue as a means to resolving the country's ongoing constitutional stalemate and restoring democratic order. "The Khilafat Majlis always welcomes constructive dialogue and discussions to resolve the ongoing political unrest in the country and ensure an acceptable, peaceful and fair election," the leaders said.
Referring to the meeting between Tarique Rahman and Dr Yunus on June 13 in London, the party underscored its relevance to the current political deadlock noting, "In this context, the talks are a timely and important step in principle." The Khilafat Majlis further recalled that it had 'positively accepted' the earlier announcement of a possible election schedule in early April but recognized that a February timeline may be more practical if 'necessary reforms and judicial progress can be ensured'. The statement noted that Tarique Rahman echoed this proposal during the meeting and the Chief Adviser "indicated that the possibility of February would be kept open with conditions, which is a positive development."
