CHANDPUR, June 12: A toddler drowned in a pond in Hajiganj Upazila of the district on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Md Abdullah, 3, son of Md Al Amin, a resident of Uttar Baicho Village under Purbo Borokul Union in the upazila.
According to locals, Abdullah was playing with other children on their yard. A few moments later, his family noticed he was missing from there.
Being tensed, they started searching for him and found his floating body in the pond beside their house.
They then rescued him and took to a village doctor, where Abdullah was declared dead.
Officer-in-Charge of Hajiganj Police Station Md Mohiuddin Faruk confirmed the incident, saying that the body was handed over to his family.
