At least 23 Bangladeshi pilgrims have died while performing Hajj in Saudi Arabia this year, as of June 11, according to the daily bulletin of the Hajj Management Portal ‘Hajj-2025’ under the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
The report stated that 21 of the deceased were men and two were women. Fifteen deaths occurred in Makkah, seven in Madinah, and one in Arafat.
Currently, 23 Bangladeshi pilgrims are undergoing treatment in Saudi government hospitals. A total of 193 Bangladeshi pilgrims have received medical care at these facilities so far, the Bangladesh Hajj Office reported.
Meanwhile, the return of pilgrims has begun following the completion of the Hajj on June 5. Over the past two days, 8,606 Bangladeshi pilgrims have returned home on 22 flights.
Of those, 837 pilgrims returned under government arrangements, while 7,769 traveled back through private management.
As of Wednesday midnight, four Biman Bangladesh Airlines flights brought back 1,409 pilgrims, eight Saudi Airlines flights returned 3,185, and 10 Flynas Airlines flights carried 4,012.
The return flights are scheduled to continue until July 10.
