Notorious criminal Subrata Bain has been sent to jail following the end of his remand in a case filed under the Arms Act with Dhaka's Hatirjheel Police Station.
On Thursday (June 5), Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nazmin Akter rejected his bail petition and ordered his detention in jail after hearing the case.
Sub-Inspector Riyad Ahmed, the investigating officer, produced Bain before the court and sought his continued detention. Bain's lawyer, Badal Mia, had filed for bail.
On May 28, the court had granted an eight-day remand for Subrata Bain. That same day, the court also granted a six-day remand for three of his associates: top-listed criminals Abu Rasel Masud alias Molla Masud, Arafat Ibn Nasir alias Shooter Arafat, and MAS Sharif. All three were sent to jail earlier this week after completing their remand.
Subrata Bain, also known as Fateh Ali, was arrested along with Molla Masud in a pre-dawn special operation conducted by the Bangladesh Army in Kushtia on May 27. Based on their information, two more associates, Shooter Arafat and Sharif, were later detained in Dhaka's Hatirjheel area.
