Saudi Arabia has temporarily suspended the issuance of work visas for citizens of 14 countries, including Bangladesh, effective until the end of the upcoming Hajj season.

The restriction is expected to remain in place through June, according to a report by Arab Times.

The suspension, announced by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, will impact thousands of foreign workers and international businesses who rely on labor migration to the Kingdom.

The countries affected by the suspension are: Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Egypt, Indonesia, Iraq, Nigeria, Jordan, Algeria, Sudan, Ethiopia, Tunisia, Yemen, and Morocco.

Saudi authorities have indicated that the move is temporary and work visa issuance is likely to resume once the Hajj season concludes. The decision is part of administrative adjustments ahead of the annual pilgrimage, which draws millions of people to the country.

Industry observers note that the suspension may cause significant delays in labor deployment and contract execution, especially for businesses dependent on workforce supply from these countries.
