All types of navigation on Kaptai Lake in Rangamati district have been suspended until further notice by Rangamati District Administration.

The matter was confirmed on Friday morning by Rangamati Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Habib Ullah.

He stated that, following the decision of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA), a ban has been imposed on the movement of all water vessels in Rangamati to ensure the safety of lives and property. Everyone has already been informed of the decision.

Although various vessels, including tourist boats, were seen operating on Kaptai Lake in the morning despite adverse weather, after the announcement of suspension, tourist boats have started returning to docks.

Additionally, 31 shelter centers have been prepared in Rangamati to deal with landslides and other natural disasters.
