Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman has said that declaring roadmaps for reforms and elections can resolve many of the ongoing political crises.

He made the statement on Saturday night around 9:30 pm during a press briefing following a meeting with Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus.

After the nearly hour-long meeting, Shafiqur Rahman told journalists, "The recent unrest surrounding rumors of the Chief Adviser's resignation and issues like the blockade seems to have eased for now. We want a permanent resolution. We believe that two declarations-a roadmap for reforms and a roadmap for elections-can address much of the current situation. Both are extremely important."

He added, "We think the election should be held within the timeframe given by the Chief Adviser, without causing any major suffering to the public. Secondly, we stated that before the election, reforms and visible steps toward justice must be presented to the people. If an election is held before reforms are completed, it will not fulfill the people's expectations."

He also said, "It's not possible for the government to implement all reforms. They have initiated some specific ones, and those must be resolved satisfactorily. There's also the matter of the July Proclamation. Among the demands of the parties involved in reforms, there are some differences. This is natural, as different parties will have different opinions."

Present at the meeting were Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher, Local Government Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, and National Consensus Commission Vice President Ali Riaz.

Earlier in the evening, Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus also held a meeting with a four-member BNP delegation led by Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain.
