A Dhaka court on Saturday ordered the freezing of 38 bank accounts belonging to former Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Sheikh Abdul Hannan, his wife Tahmida Begum, and their son Sheikh Labib Hannan. The accounts hold a total balance of approximately Tk 11.83 million.
The order was issued on Saturday (May 24) by Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Galib, following a petition by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Deputy Director Md Tanzeer Hasib Sarkar.
According to the ACC, Sheikh Hannan is under investigation for alleged abuse of power, embezzlement of state funds, bribery, irregularities in recruitment, money laundering, and acquisition of assets beyond known sources of income. A three-member probe team has been formed to investigate the allegations.
The ACC stated that Hannan and his family were attempting to transfer or conceal their assets, prompting the urgent move to freeze their movable and immovable properties to prevent potential loss to the state.
