LALMOHAN, BHOLA, May 23: Repaired roads in Lalmohan Municipality of the district is facilitating public communication.
Already some roads in the municipality have been repaired while many others are being developed.
According to sources at the Lalmohan Municipality, there are 48 kilometre (km) cemented road in the municipal area. But due to lack of repairing, at least 27km road has been deplorable. Already repairing is going on across 17km. For repairing the remaining 10km, proposal has been sent to the department concerned.
Samaj Kalyan Samity Road and Abdus Sahid Hawladar Road at Ward No. 5 and other roads in several other wards have been developed. Mobarak Ali Hawladar Road at Ward No. 8, Patwari Road at Ward No. 9 and other roads in the municipality are being repaired.
Lanchghat Road, Karim Road and Nayanigram road and several others are awaiting repairing. Repairing of most roads will be completed in December.
A dweller of Mobarak Ali Hawladar Road area Md Akbor Hossain said, this road is one of the important roads in the municipality town. This road is used by students and people of different unions including Kolma Union.
"We express gratitude to the municipality administrator who initiated to repair worse roads," he added. An auto-driver of Samaj Kalyan Samity Road area Md Ismail Hossain said, rain would turn this road into a water channel, causing immense public sufferings. Now it has been repaired, facilitating our communication, he added Lalmohan Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Municipality Administrator Md Shah Aziz said, "After taking charge as poura administrator, I have written letter to the ministry concerned about developing all deplorable roads. On the basis of this letter, financial allocations were given for developing about 17 kilometre roads under different projects."
The development works of these roads will be completed by the next December, he added.
He further said, proposals for other deplorable roads have also been submitted to departments concerned. After approval, their development works will be started. "We hope then there will be no deplorable road in the municipality," the official maintained.
