MEHERPUR, May 23: Police constable recruitment was completed peacefully in the district on Thursday.
In the evening, the appointment board announced the result. Out of about 500 jobseekers, nine ones including a woman have been given jobs in accordance with their quality and talent. Those who got jobs by spending only Tk 120 were found overwhelmed and emotional.
Farzana Khatun, a struggling young woman said, "It took me Tk 120 to fill up my application form. Apart from that, I did not spend a single Taka. I came here completely on my own merit. Today I am very happy, because after failing twice, I was finally selected for the police job on my own merit. Not only me, but my parents are also very happy. We are a farmer family. My father is a farmer."
One of the selected said, "Getting a job is definitely a matter of joy. After a long time of effort and perseverance, getting this job on my own merit is really a matter of pride. My father is a farmer. He made me educated at hard cost, and the result I have received today. Alhamdulillah, this success after a lot of hardship is the happiest moment of my life. This achievement is not only my own, but also a proud moment for my family to fulfill their dreams."
A total of nine people, including eight men and one woman, have been initially selected for the recruitment test for the positions of police constable, based on merit and physical ability.
The recruitment board said, the entire recruitment process was completed in a transparent and systematic manner.
In the evening Superintendent of Police (SP) Maksuda Akhtar Khanam, PPM, announced the final results at the drill shed of Meherpur Police Lines.
SP said, nine candidates have been initially selected and two more are on the waiting list. No financial transaction was made with any of them.
"If there has been a transaction with someone, give us a written complaint, we will make arrangement to return the money. However, we firmly believe that no such incident has happened", she added.
Those who are initially selected were selected based entirely on their own merit. There was no lobbying or recommendation role. The initial selection was made only on the basis of merit and qualification.
Additional SPs of Meherpur, Magura, Kushtia districts were present during the announcement of the results.
