A female garment worker was stabbed to death allegedly by her husband at Salna Ipsha Gate area in Gazipur municipality on Thursday night.
The deceased, Sharmin Akter, daughter of Azizul Haque, a resident of Laxmipur village in Mymensingh district, was the worker of a garment belonging to Preeti Group.
According to locals, Sharmin used to live in a rented house and worked in a garment belonging to the group. Her husband, Mojammel, stabbed Sharmin indiscriminately while she was returning home from her workplace around 11:30 PM, leaving her dead on the spot.
Being informed, a team of police recovered the body and sent it to Shaheed Taj Uddin Ahmad Medical College morgue for autopsy, said Gazipur Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge Mehedi Hasan.
Police, however, arrested Mojammel for his alleged involvement in the incident.
The process of filing a case was underway in this connection, the OC said, adding that legal action would be taken against those found involved in the incident.
