Rajshahi University (RU) has temporarily suspended an associate professor and a female student following their detention in an "objectionable situation".
The decision was made during the university's 539th Syndicate meeting on Thursday, confirmed by Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Mohammad Main Uddin.
The accused professor is Mohammad Hedayet Ullah, a faculty member of Finance Department at the university.
Professor Main Uddin said, “The accused teacher and student are barred from participating in any academic activities of the department until an investigation report is submitted.”
“A five-member committee has been formed to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident,” the Pro VC added.
Earlier, Finance Department academic committee made a decision which relieved the teacher and student from all departmental activities, following a meeting on Wednesday.
