BNP's Standing Committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy has stated that the political conspiracy of the past 17 years had been one-sided, but now, following Hasina's departure, obstacles are emerging at every stage of the political journey, with a new form of conspiracy unfolding.
He made these remarks as the chief guest at an event for renewing BNP memberships and recruiting new members, held on Thursday afternoon at the banquet hall of Khulna Press Club.
Addressing leaders of the Nationalist Citizen Party (NCP), he urged, "Use your conscience to understand reality. Try to hear what's on the people's minds."
Criticising the government's handling of demands, Roy warned, "If the government does not fulfil our demands, just as some have stood in restricted areas for three days to press for theirs, we too will stand with millions. And if we stand with such numbers, where will you go?"
BNP's acting Organisational Secretary of the National Executive Committee, Anindya Islam Amit, presided over the event, which saw participation from central and Khulna BNP leaders representing 10 districts.
Roy also emphasised that constitutional amendments are impossible without an elected parliament, asserting that anti-people clauses must be revised through democratic means. He noted that the people of Bangladesh desire democracy and the freedom to speak, and that meaningful reform can only be achieved through an elected parliamentary body.
