A young man and a woman were electrocuted in separate incidents in two districts - Gopalganj and Chattogram.
GOPALGANJ: A youth was electrocuted in Kotalipara Upazila of the district on Thursday.
The incident occurred at Kaliganj Bazar of the upazila in the morning.
The deceased was identified as Pratap Baroi, 21, son of Tapon Baroi of Bhangarpar Village under Kolabari Union in the upazila. He used to work at a sweet shop owned by one Naresh Roy at Kaliganj Bazar.
The deceased's family sources said that Pratap came in contact with live electricity while trying to switch on an electric motor at his workplace, which left him critically injured.
Locals then rescued him and rushed to Kotalipara Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared Pratap dead.
CHATTOGRAM: A woman was electrocuted in Mehedibagh area under Chawkbazar PS in the city on Tuesday night. The incident occurred at around 10 pm in front of Mehedibagh National Hospital.
The deceased was identified as Jannatul Ferdous, 45, daughter of late Siraj of Noapara area in Raozan.
According to local sources, she was returning home at night during the rain. She came in contact with live electricity while touching an electric pole in front of Mehedibagh National Hospital, which left her critically injured.
Locals then rescued her and took to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH), where the on-duty doctor declared the woman dead.
