The Nazrul Concert 2025, initially scheduled for May 30, has been postponed by one day to honor the 44th death anniversary of late President Ziaur Rahman. The event will now take place on Saturday, May 31 at 5 pm on Manik Mia Avenue in Dhaka.
Organised by the Kazi Nazrul Institute, the open-air concert will mark the release of a new album featuring 10 remastered inspirational songs by National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, performed by some of Bangladesh’s most popular bands.
Bands set to perform include Warfaze, Souls, Dalchhut, Ark, Shironamhin, Different Touch, MNB, Rebel, Black, and F Minor, reports UNB.
Cultural Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki will inaugurate the event, which will also include poetry recitations and cultural performances in addition to live music. Entry is free for all.
Md Latiful Islam Shibli, Executive Director of the Kabi Nazrul Institute, described the project as a personal and institutional priority, saying it was included under Priority Program 7 of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs.
“In light of recent student movements advocating for equality, Nazrul’s message remains as vital as ever,” said Shibli. “This album reflects our ongoing commitment to that spirit.”
The album includes iconic tracks like Tora Shob Joyodhoni Kor, Jago Onoshon Bondi, Karar Oi Louho Kopat, Ei Shikol Pora Chhol, Durgo Giri Kantar Moru, Bajiche Damama Bandhore Amama, Porodeshi Megh, Joy Hok Joy Hok, O Bhai Khati Sonar Cheye Khati, and Mora Jhonjhar Moto Uddam.
All songs will be released digitally through the Kabi Nazrul Institute’s official website and social media platforms.
