Cox's Bazar Betar launches daily English news bulletin

Bangladesh Betar’s regional station in Cox’s Bazar has officially launched a daily English-language news bulletin, aiming to serve both international tourists and foreign nationals in the region.

The service was formally inaugurated on Thursday at station’s auditorium located on Link Road in Cox's Bazar.

A S M Jahid, Director General of Bangladesh Betar, attended the ceremony as chief guest. 

In his remarks, he highlighted Cox's Bazar’s significance as country’s leading tourist destination and a hub for international aid workers supporting Rohingya refugee response. These factors prompted the decision to launch news broadcasts in English from the regional center.

Ahead of the inauguration, Director General joined an orientation session for newly listed Bangla and English newsreaders and distributed certificates to the successful participants. 

He also toured the station and engaged in a discussion meeting with its staff members.

The ceremony was chaired by Mohammad Ashraf Kabir, Director of Cox’s Bazar regional station. Additional Director (Administration and Finance) Syed Zahidul Islam, Deputy News Controller Md. Mahmudun Nabi and Assistant News Controller Shamima Nasrin Shumi also spoke at the event.

Officials from various departments of the station, along with both Bangla and English newsreaders, were present at the occasion.

Later in the afternoon, Director General visited the station’s perimeter wall and joined a meeting on security measures for the facility.
