Bangladesh have been dealt a blow ahead of their three-match T20I series against Pakistan as Soumya Sarkar has been ruled out due to a back injury. All-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz has been named as his replacement in the squad for series starting May 28 in Lahore.

Soumya Sarkar will miss the upcoming T20I series against Pakistan after sustaining a lower back injury. The left-handed batter had been experiencing discomfort in his lower right back for over a week and medical assessments confirmed that he requires a 10 to 12-day rehabilitation period.
National team physio Bayjedul Islam Khan confirmed that Soumya is not fit to participate in the series and has been advised to focus on recovery.

In his absence, all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz has been recalled to national squad. Miraz, who was named the best player in the most recent edition of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), had been representing Lahore Qalandars in Pakistan Super League (PSL).

The 27-year-old, who has played 29 T20Is, is set to join Bangladesh team in Lahore after completing his PSL commitments.

The three T20I matches are scheduled to be held in Lahore on May 28, May 30 and June 1.
