The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and temporary gusty winds in different parts of the country over the next five days.
According to the weather bulletin issued for 24 hours from 9 am on Thursday, rain or thundershowers are likely at many places in Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions; at a few locations in Dhaka and Rajshahi divisions; and at one or two spots in Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions. Moderately heavy to heavy rainfall may occur in places within Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet.
The Met office also reported that a mild heatwave is sweeping across Madaripur, Pabna, Khulna, Jashore, Chuadanga, Kushtia, and Satkhira, and it may persist in the coming days.
Day and night temperatures may increase slightly across the country.
Additionally, a low-pressure area is expected to form over the South Bay around May 26. The southwest monsoon has already advanced to Myanmar’s Akyab coast, the BMD added.
