KUET interim VC resigns amid protest

In the face of huge protest, interim Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Hazrat Ali of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) has resigned.

He submitted his resignation to the education ministry on Thursday, confirmed KUET's deputy registrar Abdur Rahman.

Earlier on May 1, the education ministry appointed Hazrat, a professor of KUET's Civil Engineering department, as the interim vice chancellor.

On May 19, Hazrat left the campus for Dhaka citing official reasons in the face of back-to-back movements by the teachers and the students of the university.

The education ministry had withdrawn the then KUET VC Professor Mohammad Mashud and Pro VC Professor Sheikh Shariful Alam on April 25 after a movement by the students.
