NATORE, May 20: Environment, Forest, Climate and Water Resource Adviser Rizwana Hasan on Monday said, a plan has been taken to free at least one river in each district from illegal possession.
She said this while visiting water flow of the Boral River and sluice gate at Atghoria point of the river in Baraigram Upazila of the district.
"We have passed 52/53 years. We did not ascertain effect of environment. We made structures on rivers. Thus we harmed a lot to rivers. It is not possible for the present government to solve the problems by one-to-two year duration. At best we can give a working plan to the next performers about this," she added.
She further said, the Boral River needs to be excavated.
During this time, Deputy Secretary of Ministry of Water Resource Md Mobasherul Islam, DC Asma Shahin, SP Amjad Hossain, Chief Engineer of Rajshahi Water Development Board Mokhlesur Rahaman, and officials of Barind Unnayan Authorities and BADC were present.
