One killed in Karwan Bazar road accident

A 60-year-old day labourer was killed after being hit by a pick-up van while crossing the road near Wasa Bhaban in Dhaka’s Karwan Bazar area on Monday night.

The victim, identified as Md Moktar Mia, worked as a day labourer in Karwan Bazar area.

According to witnesses, the accident occurred around 9:45pm when a speeding pickup van struck him as he was crossing the road, leaving him critically injured.
Pedestrians rushed him to the Emergency Department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where doctors declared him dead at 11:50pm, said Md Faruk, in-charge of the hospital’s police outpost.

The body has been kept at the DMCH morgue for autopsy, he added.
