National Men's Handball meet begins today

The 35th National Men's Handball competition, organised by Bangladesh Handball Federation (BHF), begins at Shaheed Captain M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium in the capital today.

BHF vice-president and local government division joint secretary Dr. Abu Nasar Mohammad Abdullah is expected to inaugurate the meet as the chief guest.

A total of 23 teams of services and district sports associations, will compete in two phases. Eleven teams, split into two groups, will take part in first phase while 12 teams divided into two groups compete in the second phase. Later stage, four group champion teams of two groups will qualify for the semifinals.

The participating teams of first phase:
Group A: Bangladesh Ansar and VDP, Jashore District Sports Association (DSA), Faridpur, Jamalpur, Gaibandha and Joypurhat
Group B: Chattogram, Rajshahi DSAs and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Madaripur and Mymensingh DSAs.

Participating teams in second phase:
Group C: Bangladesh Police Handball Club, Dhaka, Sunamganj, Narayanganj, Bogura and Bagerhat DSAs
Group D: Bandarban, Chapainawabganj, Kushtia, Panchagarh, Narail and Dinajpur DSAs.    �"BSS
