Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has said that the people of the country are eagerly waiting for justice to be fully served in the rape and murder case of young Asiya in Magura and murder of Montu Chandra Das in Barguna with exemplary punishment for all those involved.

In a reaction posted on his official Facebook page on Saturday following the court verdict, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman expressed dissatisfaction that only one of the four accused-Hitu Sheikh-was sentenced to death.

He wrote, "The trial of the heinous murder of little Asiya was completed within two months, and the verdict has been delivered. However, the victim's family has expressed disappointment with the outcome and has announced their intention to appeal to a higher court. This deserves serious attention."

Emphasising the need for justice, he added, "The people of Bangladesh are waiting to see that all those responsible are held accountable. Swift and complete justice in such cases would serve as a strong deterrent to future crimes."

The Jamaat Ameer also called for expedited justice in another case involving Montu Chandra Das, the father of a child rape victim in Barguna who was later murdered. "Alongside the Asiya murder case, we demand swift trial and justice for Montu Chandra Das, whose young daughter was violated, and who was himself subsequently killed," he wrote.
