Seven bodies recovered in six districts

Seven people including two women were found dead in separate incidents in six districts - Laxmipur, Dinajpur, Chapainawabganj, Jamalpur, Cox's Bazar and Rangpur.

LAXMIPUR: Two men were found dead in separate incidents in Ramgati and Kamalnagar upazilas of the district.

Police recovered the body of a tea-stall owner from in Ramgati Upazila on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Nur Alam, 48, a resident of Ward No. 9 Majherchar area under Char Abdullah Union of the upazila. He was the owner of a tea-stall at Khokon Bazar of the area.

It was known that Nur Alam slept at his shop on Friday night. Later on, locals spotted his body with its hands and legs tied up lying behind the shop at dawn on Saturday and informed the matter to the police.

Being informed, police recovered the body from the scene in the morning and sent it to Laxmipur Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

The deceased's wife Taslima Akhter lodged a murder case with Ramgati Police Station (PS) in this connection.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ramgati PS Md Kabir Hossain confirmed the incident, adding that the law enforcers are investigating the matter and trying to identify and arrest those involved in the killing.

On the other hand, police recovered the hanging body of another man from his father-in-law's house in Kamalnagar Upazila of the district on Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Mosleh Uddin, 35, son of Shafiq Uddin, a resident of Chandkhali area under Laharkandi Union in Sadar Upazila of the district.

It was known that Mosleh Uddin along with his wife and three children had been living in his father-in-law's house in Ward No. 7 area under Char Martin Union of Kamalnagar Upazila for the last two months.

At around 1 pm on Thursday, he went out of the house, but did not return. Later on, the members of his in-laws' family found his body hanging from a branch of a tree near the house at dawn and informed the matter to the police.

Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Laxmipur Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Hazirhat Police Investigation Centre In-Charge Mohammad Jahangir Hossain confirmed the incident, adding that the law enforcers are investigating the matter and the actual reason behind his death would be known after getting the autopsy report.

DINAJPUR: Police recovered the decomposed body an elderly man from his residence in Birampur Upazila of the district on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Matiar Rahman Buda, 65, a resident of Beparitala Village under Deor Union in the upazila.
According to locals, Buda lived alone in his house as wife passed away a long time ago. His children reside elsewhere.
On Friday afternoon, neighbours got a foul odour emanating from Buda's house which prompted them to inform the police.
Upon arrival, the police recovered Buda's body from his residence. They suspect that the elderly man might have died two to three days back.
Confirming the incident, Birampur PS OC Mamtazul Haque said that the body was sent to Dinajpur General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Legal procedures are underway regarding the incident, the OC added.

CHAPAINAWABGANJ: Police recovered the body of a man from the Pagla River in Shibganj Upazila of the district on Friday.
The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.
According to police, locals spotted the body of the man floating in the river at Guchchagram under Durlavpur Union of the upazila in the morning and informed the police.
Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Chapainawabganj General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Shibganj PS OC Golam Kibria confirmed the incident, adding that legal action will be taken upon the autopsy report.

JAMALPUR: A women's burnt body was recovered from a jute field in Bakshiganj Upazila of the district on Friday.
The recovery took place at around 8 am in Banderpara Village under Bogarchor Union of the upazila.
According to locals, one farmer Nur Ali discovered the body following an odour coming from his field in the morning. He then informed the police.
Locals also claimed that the body bore multiple burn injuries it can be a planned murder.
Bakshiganj PS OC Khandakar Shaker Ahmed confirmed the recovery, saying that investigation is underway to unveil the actual reason behind the death.

COX'S BAZAR: Police recovered the body of a college student from a rented house in Sadar Upazila of the district on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Harun-ur-Rashid Monir Chowdhury, 19, son of Mujibul Haque of Panasa area under Jaliapalong Union in Ukhiya Upazila of the district. He was a student at Harvad International College in Cox's Bazar.

Cox's Bazar Sadar PS OC (Investigation) Azizur Rahman said that deceased Monir and one Mahmudul Haque used to live together in a rented house near their college. At noon, Monir went out of the house to buy green chilli, but returned shortly after feeling unwell. Later on, Mahmudul Haque went to the market. After returning, Mahmudul called Monir several times, but he did not respond. He then entered the room and found Monir's body.

Being informed, police rushed to the scene at around 2:30 pm, recovered the body, and took Mahmudul into custody.

The body was then sent to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy, the OC added.

The deceased's cousin Arafat Chowdhury claimed, "Terrorists killed my brother. The real motive and cause behind his death will come to light through the interrogation of Mahmudul Haque."

RANGPUR: Police recovered the decomposed body an elderly woman from her residence in Badarganj Upazila of the district on Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Urmila Begum, wife of Tozammel Haq, a resident of Ward No. 2 area in the upazila.
According to locals, a foul odour emanated from Urmila Begum's house in the morning. Suspecting something amiss, they informed the police.

Being informed, police rushed to the scene and recovered the body.

Locals also said that Urmila had been suffering from mental illness for a long time. Her husband remarried and resides in Radhanagar Union. Their only child lives in Dhaka while Urmila lived alone in her house.

Confirming the matter, Badarganj PS OC AKM Atiqur Rahman said that after completing necessary legal procedures, the body has been sent to Rangpur Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

A case was filed with the PS in connection with this incident, the OC added.
