Housewife dies in Kurigram lightning strike

A housewife died after being struck by lightning strike at Ulipur upazila in Kurigram district on Friday.

The incident occurred around 11 AM at Madhupur Clinicpar area under Dharnibari union in the upazila.
The deceased, Chameli Rani, 40, wife of Madan Chandra was a resident of the same area. Chameli was the mother of two children.

According to police and locals, Chameli Rani went out to bring back their cattles to the shade. When a streak of lightning struck her, leaving her dead on the spot.

Along with her, a cow also faced the same fate at that time.

Confirming the death, Ulipur Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Zillur Rahman said that being informed, police had been sent to the scene and legal actions were being taken.
