Lightning strike kills farmer in Sherpur

A farmer was killed in a lightning strike in Sherpur Sadar upazila on Friday.

The deceased was Sujon Mia, 23, son of late Akter Ali of Lakshmi-dangri Beparibari village under Bhelua union in the upazila.

According to locals, Sujon was harvesting paddy at a field near his house. While returning home and a lightning stroke injured him.

Later, locals rescued and took him to Sherpur General Hospital where on- duty doctors declared him dead.

Confirming the incident, Sherpur Police Station officer-in-charge Md Emdadul Haque said that police has dispatched the scene after being informed.
