Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Detective Branch (DB) is currently questioning an individual in connection with an incident in which a water bottle was thrown at Information Adviser Mahfuz Alam during a student demonstration in Kakrail.

Deputy Commissioner of DMP Media Division, Muhammad Talebur Rahman, confirmed the development on Friday, stating, “One individual has been brought in for questioning. After the interrogation, he will be released into the custody of his guardian.”

The identity of the person being questioned has not been disclosed, and it remains unclear whether the act was deliberate or a spontaneous outburst from the crowd.

The incident took place on Wednesday night around 10 PM, when Mahfuz Alam arrived near Kakrail Mosque to speak with protesting students from Jagannath University. The students have been staging demonstrations to press for a series of demands, including housing and budgetary reforms.

During his attempt to address the crowd, a plastic water bottle was suddenly hurled toward him, striking him on the head. Following the unexpected disruption, the adviser left the scene without continuing his remarks.
