Three people including two women were murdered in separate incidents in three districts - Cox's Bazar, Laxmipur and Pabna.
UKHIYA, COX'S BAZAR: A Rohingya woman was stabbed to death by her husband in Ukhiya Upazila of the district on Wednesday.
The incident took place at A-7 Block of No. 19 Ghonarpara Rohingya Camp under Palangkhali Union of the upazila at early hours.
Deceased Rehena Begum, 30, was the wife of Nurul Islam of the same camp.
Quoting locals, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ukhiya Police Station (PS) Mohammad Arif Hossain said that Rehena Begum had an extramarital affair with a neighbour.
The couple often locked into altercations over the matter. At early hours of Wednesday, they again had an altercation, and one stage, Nurul Islam stabbed his wife with a knife on the chest and stomach, leaving Rehena Begum dead on the spot.
Being informed, a team of Armed Police Battalion recovered the body from the scene and arrested the accused husband while he was trying to flee.
However, legal action would be taken in this connection, the OC added.
RAIPUR, LAXMIPUR: An elderly woman was slaughtered at her residence in Ramganj Upazila of the district on Tuesday night.
Police recovered her body from Kalupur Village under Chandipur Union in the upazila at around 11 pm.
Deceased Tajia Begum, 65, was the wife of Abdul Mannan of the area.
Police and local sources said that a group of miscreants intruded the house of Tajia at around 8 pm and slaughtered her before robbing gold ornaments.
Her husband Abdul Mannan went to a local mosque for performing Esha prayers at that time. After returning home, he found her blood-stained body lying on the kitchen floor.
Later on, police recovered the body from the scene at around 11 pm and sent it to Laxmipur Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Ramganj PS OC Abul Bashar confirmed the incident, adding that the law enforcers are investigating the matter and trying to detain those involved in the killing.
PABNA: A man was shot to death by miscreants in Sadar Upazila of the district early Tuesday.
The incident took place in Koladi Bijoy Rampur area under Bhandara Union of the upazila at around 12 am.
The deceased was identified as Babul Sheikh alias Laga Babu, 40, son of Hossain Sheikh, a resident of Rampur Village.
It was known that he belonged to an extremist group and had three cases against him with Pabna Sadar and Ataikula PSs.
Police and local sources said that Babul was returning home from Seuli Bazar. On the way, a group of miscreants attacked him, hacked mercilessly, and then, shot him. He died on the spot.
Later on, police recovered the body and sent it to Pabna Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Police assumed that he might have been murdered over establishing dominance in the party.
Pabna Sadar PS OC Abdus Salam confirmed the incident, adding that legal action would be taken after investigation.
