AB Party Chairman Mujibur Rahman Manju expressed concerns regarding the progress of the National Consensus Commission on Thursday. Though, many meetings and discussions with different political parties have been taken place but the Commission's work remains unclear to us.
Manju emphasized that the AB Party has maintained a flexible approach from the beginning to establish a national consensus. He noted that despite differing opinions on various issues, the party was able to reach an agreement after discussions with the Consensus Commission in the interest of the nation.
He made the remarks while talking to journalists after completing the meeting with Consensus Commission in the afternoon.
Manju acknowledged that the AB Party holds differing views on several significant matters, including the establishment of a bicameral parliament, proportional representation elections, and recommendations for the appointment of the Chief Justice.
He stressed that the party is committed to respecting the views of all parties in the pursuit of national unity.
The AB Party has submitted a comprehensive reform proposal to the National Consensus Commission. This proposal was delivered to the Commission's Vice-Chairman, Professor Dr. Ali Riaz, at the commission's temporary office next to the National Parliament Building at 3:00 PM. Journalist Monir Haider, Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor, was present during the submission.
AB Party Joint General Secretary Barrister Sunny Abdul Haque provided a detailed explanation of the points of agreement, disagreement, and partial agreement on various issues, using different color codes to illustrate these differences. The proposal was presented on behalf of the AB Party by Senior Vice Chairman Prof. Dr. Major Abdul Wahab Minar, Vice Chairman Janneta Jahangir Kashem, Joint General Secretary Barrister Nasrin Sultana Mili, Altaf Hossain, and other party members.
