The Teacher's association has announced a shutdown in Jagannath University (JnU) until their three-point demands are met.
After consulting the matter with the protesting students, the association's general; secretary Prof Rois Uddin made the announcement on Thursday from Kakrail.
"The university's demands are reasonable. But I don't understand whether the government exists at all. It's been two days and there has been no response from the government, "said Rois Uddin.
"On Wednesday police members have attacked us indiscriminately. This is complete an anarchy and injustice. We have not come here to speak against anyone, have not come here to hatch any conspiracy. We have come here to demand our rights, to get our demands met. We will not return without getting our demands met."
Their demands include the introduction of housing scholarships for 70
per cent of students in the 2025–26 fiscal year, full approval of the
university's proposed budget without cuts and formal Executive Committee
of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) approval and priority
implementation of the university's proposed second campus project.
