Israeli airstrikes on Gaza killed at least 29 people and wounded dozens more on Wednesday, according to the Palestinian territory’s civil defence agency.
Spokesman Mahmud Bassal told AFP that 25 people were killed in northern Gaza’s Jabalia area, while another four were killed in an airstrike on Khan Yunis in the south.
The renewed bombardment follows a brief pause in airstrikes on Monday during the release of US-Israeli hostage Edan Alexander. However, Israeli forces quickly resumed operations, with 28 people reportedly killed near a hospital in Khan Yunis that same day, AFP reports.
Despite ongoing international ceasefire efforts, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Monday that the military would soon move into Gaza “with full force.”
Gaza remains heavily impacted by months of conflict, with repeated Israeli strikes causing widespread casualties and destruction across the densely populated enclave.
